Chapter - Ridgeland High School

Ridgeland High School had taken the initiative to support female students by making feminine hygiene more available on campus. They realized that many female students were missing important class time by visiting the school nurse for products.

With the goal of reducing class time disruptions, Ridgeland FCCLA members decided the best solution would be to place bins full of feminine hygiene products in classrooms of female teachers. Using their chapter funds they were able to collect the supplies they needed to put their plan into play. And to make students aware of the now easily accessible items, the chapter created informative posters with period-related advice and locations where students could access the products.

As a result of this amazing community service act, teachers and piers at Ridgeland High School have told the members how the availability of these products has helped reduce unnecessary nurse visits, keeping students in class longer. This initiative was promoted on the school's Facebook page, reaching an estimated 50,000 people in the community and showcasing Ridgeland High School FCCLA's commitment to addressing real needs in school.
