Chapter - R.W Johnson High School
This project was the result of a “pivot” from previous years. In the past, we had collaborated with the special needs’ classes to observe/teach once a week. This year, however, scheduling and behavioral needs were such that we needed to find a new way to mix our classes. Our first major activity was to brainstorm ideas. We decided to hold a Christmas Party for the two moderate, special needs classes. Our second major activity was to connect with our special needs teachers to see if they were on board. Their available time slots corresponded to our two Early Childhood Education II classes perfectly. We collaborated with these teachers to establish developmentally appropriate activities that capitalized on the special needs student’s current fine motor abilities as well as skills they needed to work on. #region2
