Chapter - Schley County High School.
On Thursday, September 26, 2024, numerous counties across Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia were impacted by the effects of Hurricane Helene. Within just a few days the needs of these communities began to be heard, and many citizens from surrounding areas quickly leaped into action providing relief in the form of generators, food, and water to accessible communities.
Schley County High School FCCLA became aware of the need for baby diapers and wipes. They decided to hold a baby supply drive which was announced over the PA system during morning announcements. Within 3 days, Schley County High FCCLA was able to collect close to 1100 diapers and 60 packs of wipes. These items were delivered to Central Baptist Church in Americus and loaded on a supply truck. On Friday, October 4, 2024, the diapers and wipes were taken to Soperton, GA. to be delivered to the citizens of Treutlen County. One of the main goals for Schley County High School FCCLA this school year is to get involved in more community service projects. We will continue to look for opportunities to help families within our local, state and national communities.
