Chapter - Houston County High School

FCCLA members at Houston County High School used the Families Acting for Community Traffic Safety (FACTS) National Program to highlight the importance of car seat safety. Nearly half of children in the U.S. are not properly restrained in car seats, making car crashes a leading cause of death for children. To address this, students learned about proper car seat installation, the differences between rear-facing and forward-facing positions, and best practices based on age, weight, and height. They watched videos, analyzed photos, and practiced proper buckling techniques using a baby doll. This hands-on approach helped students teach their peers vital skills to keep young children safe in car seats.
